Winter Holidays

Throughout December we are talking and learning about holidays. We will share stories about how each of us celebrates with our family, and we’ll learn about holidays around the world. We are helping the children learn that there are many people in our world and many different beliefs and holiday celebrations. Even though holidays have different names and meanings, most are celebrated with a gathering of friends and family, special foods, and gift giving.
We will learn the names of several winter holidays and then play games, sing songs and do cooking projects to learn more about them. If you have a tradition, song, or cooking project you would like to share with our students, we would love to hear from you.
Look for a sign-up sheet on your classroom door for ways to help our classrooms this month.

Are you hoping to add or change school days?

Many families have requested extra days or a change in school days. If you are looking to change your child’s schedule please let Jennifer know by December 12. You will know by December 16 if our schedule allowed us to add or change your child’s days. All changes will begin in January 2012..

Tuition Reminders

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month and a $10 late fee will be added to payments made after the 10th.

Hands On tuition is an annual payment divided into 9 equal monthly payments. All of our days off and holidays are already taken into consideration. You are not paying for days we do not have school.

If you paid half of the music fee in September, your other half will be billed with your January invoice.

Extended care, drop in days and day credits are billed a month after use.

Baby it's cold outside!

We love to play outside every day, even when it is cold. Please send a coat to school with your child each day. A hat and mittens are great too. You can leave mittens and hats at school so your children always have them!

After School Programs

Yoga
Yoga will start again in January. The class will be offered on Thursdays and/or Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30.

Thursdays : Jan. 12 - March 15 (10 weeks)

Fridays: Jan 13 - March 16 (10 weeks)

Look for the sign-up sheet in the hall.

Do you need extra child care over the winter holiday?

Parents can enjoy some extra free time over the holiday season!
Feel free to drop off children ages 2.5 and older.

December dates TBA. Feel free to suggest days that you would especially like to have some extra child care.
Look for the sign-up sheets on the playroom doors.

Snow Days

We always follow Portland Public Schools’ decisions regarding snow days. If PPS is closed or opening late, Hands On is closed. You will be offered make up days for each day Hands On is closed due to weather.
