Classroom Information
Hands On has two classrooms, Monet & Picasso. The Monet room is purple and is for children 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years old. Teachers Serena, Kathy & Julie help make your child's first school experience a great one!
The Picasso room is orange and is for children 3 1/2 to 5 years old. Teachers Jennifer and Paula have lots of exciting activities planned for the Picasso room!
Both classes have 2 teachers each day. |
• Your child should pack a lunch each day. Hands On will provide a healthy snack. • Most months Hands On will host a parent coffee. After dropping off your child in his/her classroom, please feel free to join other parents/caregivers from 9-9:45 in the playroom. • This is a time for parents and younger siblings to play and get to know each other over coffee. Days change to allow everyone a chance to attend. • We have no required parent help hours. When we have parties or field trips, we will hang up a sign to ask for parent volunteers. • If we are planning a field trip, you will be notified ahead of time and are welcome to join us. • Please leave a labeled Ziploc bag of extra clothes at school for your child.
| • Toys from home are welcome, as long as they are not toy weapons or too small. Children will have an opportunity to show them to friends but will then be asked to put them away or on a shelf. • Remember, toys can easily be misplaced so don’t bring anything too important. • Cough drops, candy & gum are not appropriate for your child to bring to school. • School pictures are taken of each child and class. You are not obligated to buy them. • Both classrooms will have a music class during school on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

When Dropping off Your Child
Coats & backpacks go in the hallway and lunches go in cubbies. Children start off the day with free choice time in their classroom. Make sure a teacher sees your child come in before you leave. If your child’s pick-up routine will be different than normal, be sure to note the change on the sheet on the classroom door. You may want to establish a routine with your child for drop-off. For example, have your child choose a book, read it together and say goodbye. A teacher will hold your child if he/she is having a hard time seeing you go. Make sure to keep the door at the bottom of stairwell closed. It is our policy that only adults open this door. Take extra care backing out & driving in the parking lot while children are coming and going. |
When Picking up Your Child
Children will be ready to go at 12:30, unless you have signed up for extended care. In the event that you are running late you may call the school at 503.239.8521, and let the teachers know and they will put your child in extended care.
Please check cubbies and art work each week. Art & projects really start stacking up.
